The problem of infertility and poor reproductive performence is major cause of concern in india. Irrerespective of heavy cost of treatment there is not surety of sucess of treatment, because of varity of reasons which include  pathology, managment, environment and nutrition.

If we see nutritional causes farmers are least concerned about BALANCED FEED in rural india.

Besides general nutrition status , defecencies, imbalance as well as absence of  single critical component can have bad effect on reproductive performance either directly or indirectly.

DRY MATTER INTAKE :

It shows remarkable effect on reproductive performance . It shows a positive corelation with DMI. The cows with higher  DMI shows better heat signs and become pregnant post partemly.

ENERGY

It is very important nutritional reason. In early lactation feed intake is usually less due to ruman size. Animals consume more energy into milk production than consumed from feed and as a result animal experiences NEGATIVE ENERGY BALANCE. So animal lose weight. Duration of  NBE are positively associated with  the interval of ist post partum ovulation, high incidence of silent heat and lower conception rate.

THE BEST WAY TO GET MORE ENERGY INTO THE COW IS TO IMPROVE THE ENERGY DENSITY OF FEED.

PROTTEIN

It is again a imp nutrition . lack or less crude protein in feed will cause an increase in non detectable heats as well as a lower conception rate.

Some times overburden of protein causes problem. Conversion of excess degradable protein to biood urea nitrogen which has been linked to a major decrease in fertility. So more energy is required to eleminate it from blood.

MINRALS AND VITAMINS

Minrals required for reproduction are ca, p, cu, zn, se, and iodine. In minrals vit-A Is most important.

SO IT IS IMPORTANT TO GIVE BALANCED FEED IN ADDITION TO ROUGHAGE COMPONENT OF RATION.
